Disclaimer: This page is not intended to be legal advice. If you have questions about your specific usage, please consult with your lawyer.
Why did you change the license?
As you may have seen, we are updating some of the libraries in the SDV ecosystem to use the Business Source License (BSL). We love our open source community, and we made this decision after carefully considering costs and benefits to us – and to you!
BSL protects us from those who want to use our software for certain production purposes. This allows us to focus on bringing the best features and experiences to you without worrying about anyone taking advantage of our work.
Can you provide more information about BSL?
BSL was created by the MariaDB corporation to allow free, open source usage in many cases, while also allowing for sustainable software development and growth.
For more resources, please see our LICENSE. You may also be interested in this guidance coming directly from the MariaDB corporation.
Can I still use the software for my project?
Our license allows anyone to freely use our software for non-production use. Some production use may be allowed if it meets the criteria in the "Additional Use Grant" of our LICENSE.
If your usage isn't allowed by BSL, you may also purchase a commercial license from us. Please contact us at info@sdv.dev to learn more.
Who can I contact if I have any other questions?
For any other questions, you can reach us at info@sdv.dev. You can also inquire about a commercial license to allow additional use.
